Independent residency program
The plastic surgery independent residency program at UMMC offers a strong, balanced program. The program uses the San Francisco Match application service.
As part of the SF Match application service, the residency program requires a recent photograph, USMLE results (Steps 1 and 2), a dean's letter of recommendation and three letters of recommendation from faculty, a final confirmation letter from the ABPS, and applicants must have at least five years of general surgery, or board eligibility in neurological surgery, orthopedic surgery, otolaryngology, or urology, prior to enter into this program.
The SF Match application service opens the first week of August and we accept applications until Oct. 31. An applicant without United States citizenship must have a J-1 visa in order to be employed as a resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Integrated residency program
The plastic surgery integrated residency program at UMMC accepts applications through ERAS. ERAS applications will be received starting Sept. 15 with a deadline of Nov. 1 each year.
After an application has been reviewed, invitations for interviews will be extended. During the interview day there will be a tour of the medical center and opportunities to speak to residents at various levels. An applicant without United States citizenship must have a J-1 visa in order to be employed as a resident at UMMC.
All residency and fellowship programs at UMMC require state licensure.
